Here at Kings, we have a rigorous application process for our tutors, including an initial application, an interview with one of our team, and a number of safeguarding and education verification checks. When choosing an agency for your tuition, we would recommend asking the team how they choose their tutors, and what stages are involved in appointing a prospective tutor.

What safeguarding checks does an agency perform on their tutors?

The safety of students and tutors alike is of paramount importance to any one-to-one tuition. Whilst it is not a legal requirement, we highly recommend only working with agencies who require all their tutors to possess an enhanced DBS check. This is required of all our tutors at Kings, and we believe it is essential to safe practice within the world of tutoring. 

What education/qualifications do the tutors have?

At Kings, we believe it is essential for all tutors to be highly qualified and educated in the subjects they are tutoring. One cannot begin to tutor a subject without first having a solid education in the subject themselves. We would therefore highly recommend asking an agency what qualifications their tutors possess.

Are they a member of The Tutors Association?

Founded in 2013, The Tutors Association is a professional body which provides a unified and coherent voice for the tutoring profession. All members commit to high professional standards, and have proven competency in their respective fields. This final point is perhaps the most important in choosing who to work with to provide tuition for you or your child. Tutoring is a highly individual experience, and you must ultimately feel comfortable and happy with the hands in which you are entrusting your education.
