Independent Secondary Schools Guide – Lady Eleanor Holles School

January 16, 2022

Located in Hampton, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Lady Eleanor Holles School is an independent day school for girls aged between 11 ad 19 years old. There are currently 730 students at the school, including the 190 girls who attend the Sixth Form. The school is also linked to a junior school.

The education at Lady Eleanor Holles School is centred around the aims and ethos of the school to be a school of opportunity, challenge, and friendship.  The school prides itself on nurturing remarkable students. Although Lady Eleanor Holles School has a Christian foundation from when it was first established 1710, the school welcomes girls of all faiths and no faith.

The school has access to large sporting facilities and a boat house which is shared with Hampton School. Hampton School and Lady Eleanor Holles School are part of the Hampton ISSP (Independent State Secondary Partnership), so students and teachers can work with five other secondary schools on events. The two schools also have joint clubs and societies in the lower school as well as in the Sixth Form, aiming to foster friendships and increase diversity.

The Good Schools Guide gives Lady Eleanor Holles School glowing praise as ‘deservedly one of the top girls’ schools in the country: ‘it is exactly right for naturally confident, very bright young’ girls. In 2020, 95% of the students achieved grades between Grade 9 to 7 in their GCSEs. The A-level results in 2020 were similarly impressive with 96% of students achieving between a grade A* to B.
