Schools out! Which means its time to get planning those summer days out. A family trip in London can be costly, so we’ve put together some of the best ways to entertain your kids this holiday, for free!
RAF Museum
The RAF Museum offers a child-friendly and interactive educational experience with five buildings full of artifacts, aircraft and memorabilia, detailing the history of all things aviation. Picnic benches are available inside and outside if you want to bring your own lunch. Don’t forget to check out the other free museums on offer; The Natural History Museum and Museum of London are to name but a few.
The National Gallery Art Workshops
Every Sunday between 11am and 4pm you can pay a visit to The National Gallery where kids aged 5-11 can participate in art workshops and drawing lessons. Entry to the museum is completely free. You cannot book so make sure to turn up on time as places are allocated an hour before starting. Perfect for any budding artists and those who like to be creative!
Crystal Palace Park
For the warmer days, enjoy a day in the park and a chance to see the world’s oldest dinosaur sculptures! With plenty of green space, playgrounds and a farm, there is a whole day of fun to be had. For alternative spots around London try Richmond Park to spot some deer or St. James Park to feed the pelicans.
Vauxhall City Farm
With pigs, sheep, rabbits, ducks and more this is a great way for the kids to learn more about animals. There are even some alpacas! With an ecology area and herb garden too, there is plenty to look at and explore.
Kids go free West End Shows
West End shows including Wicked, Dreamgirls, Mamma Mia and Thriller Live are offering a free child’s ticket to a theatre performance when you buy a full-priced adult ticket, giving you a massive saving on the ticket cost. These free tickets are available nearly everyday depending on the show so just check availability online.
The capital of London has plenty to offer for the whole family to enjoy, even when you’re on a budget.
